SMS Messaging Policy

This page explains how small Talk sends review request text messages, how customers can opt out, and how to get help.

What messages are sent

Small Talk Digital LLC sends non-marketing review request text messages through small Talk on behalf of local businesses. When a business owner requests a review from their customer through our platform, the customer receives a short text message with a personalized link to a guided review flow. If the customer does not complete the review, one follow-up reminder message may be sent over the following days.

How consent is obtained

Customers consent to receive review request messages when they provide their phone number to the business for service-related communication and verbally agree to receive a review request text. The business owner initiates each review request individually through the small Talk platform and confirms consent before sending. No bulk, purchased-list, lead-generation, or marketing messages are sent.

Message frequency

Customers receive a maximum of 2 messages per review request: one initial request and one reminder. Messages are only sent during reasonable hours.

How to opt out

Customers can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Once opted out, no further messages will be sent. Customers can resubscribe by replying START.

Help

Customers can reply HELP to any message for assistance. For additional support, contact hello@usesmalltalk.com. Customers can also visit usesmalltalk.com/sms-consent.

Verbal Consent Script for Business Owners

After completing a service, the business owner asks the customer:

“We’d like to send you a quick text with a link to leave an honest review about your service. It will come from small Talk on our behalf. You may receive up to 2 messages for this request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Our terms and privacy policy are at usesmalltalk.com/terms and usesmalltalk.com/privacy. Would you like us to send that to you?”

The customer responds yes or no.

If yes, the business owner enters the customer’s phone number into the small Talk platform, confirms the customer agreed to receive the text, and sends the review request. The first text is the review request itself and looks like this:

“Riverbend Lawn: Sarah, what stood out about your lawn service? https://www.usesmalltalk.com/r/abc123 Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help”
